about

The original album was released on Ninetysix sounds in 1999. The remastered digital version was released on XAKK Records in 2003.
After releasing "64" by myself (printing 500 copies and selling on the net and through computer conventions etc), I used some of the money to buy myself some better equipment. Like the Kurzweil K2000 synthesizer. It was to become the main instrument on my second album, Karooshi Porn, released three years later on Ninetysix Sounds.

REVIEWS:

"There's a bit of a retro feel to Fogelberg's work. His analog sensibilities recall mid-eighties synth-pop, but the scale of his work is more reminiscent of the massive, sweeping grandeur of Vangelis. While the lush, relaxing textures employed on Karooshi Porn could easily be lumped in with the ambient crowd, these are quite clearly compositions with goals more specific and lofty than gently easing the listener out of an E-induced euphoria. While danceable cuts like "Life in a Tube" argue KarooshiPorn's place among nineties techno, you might find it most enjoyable if you enjoyed the not-quite-electronic/not-quite-New-Age material Private Music released in the late eighties -- Patrick O'Hearn's albums, for instance."

"The general style of this work can be placed between Synth-Pop and Techno-Trance. Certain traits of World Music and Ambient can be detected in some moments. Although there are slow parts, a good deal of the music is rhythmic. In some occasions the melodies tend to be of a melodic romanticism, while in other instances they have a mysterious air. This is a record with interesting electronic textures and rhythms. It always is pleasant to listen to well elaborated, varied sounds. This album by Fogelberg, in this sense, shows us a new, original path that will probably be followed by many other artists in the future."

This fine Berlin label is known for its ambient surprises and again here is a new discovery. With this release, the Swedish 30 year old Björn Fogelberg gets - astonishingly - the first significant space for his sonar-dimensional visions. Sometimes the sound and track structure is a little similar to Klaus Schulze, though some things are also reminiscent of Propaganda and other synth - pioneers of the Wave-era. In the end, however, you discover a completely unique usician. At no point during the entire 70 minutes does boredom arise. The expectations of the listener are constantly turned upside down and kicked into new directions. It´s really a true treasure chest.

Björn Fogelberg - never heard of him? What a pity, because for 15 years now he´s been occupying himself with computers and synthesizers and has earned a little fame by making remixes for illustrious colleagues like Klaus Schulze or Jean Michel Jarre. After his first work "64", from 1997, his second album is out now which presents ambient grooves and broad sound scapes. "KarooshiPorn" is best listened - to, to chill you out after a long night partying, or for no particular reason - simply dive into the music. A juicy morsel! ******
